Chapter 232 I Changed My Mind
\'\'I changed my mind. \'\'
Raydon looked over at Tika, who was writhing in his flames, and said while pulling back his flames.
With the release of his hold, Tika\'s charred body fell to the ground. Her once alluring face, which had the power to captivate the attention of whoever looked at it, now bore the horrifying marks of severe burns. The skin adhered tenaciously to her skull, while her nose and eyelids melted away, leaving her eye sockets empty. Nevertheless, in spite of her disfigured state, there was still a peculiar sight to behold: her chest rose and fell in an erratic manner, which was evidence of the slender thread of life that struggled to exist within her.
While they waited for Raydon to finish his sentence, everyone in the room stared at Tika\'s body, which was the kind of thing that would give an average person nightmares.
Raydon gave Cael a snide grin before speaking to him. "I will keep her as my maid, but I also want another one."
\'So it seems that he is not going to accept my sacrifice. \' As Cael considered the fact that his proposed resolution had been shot down, a frown formed on his face.
Cael saw an opportunity to use Tika as a scapegoat for all the injustices that had been committed against Raydon. By doing so, he hoped to alleviate some of the pent-up resentment and negative emotions that Raydon held towards his own family.
However, Raydon\'s choice to spare Tika\'s life and even accept her as his battle maid thwarted Cael\'s intentions. It was Raydon\'s way of demonstrating that he would not use Tika\'s life as compensation for the wrongs inflicted on him by his family.
eαglesnᴏνel \'As was to be anticipated, his greed will be a problem for us. \' Cael pondered as he observed Raydon\'s mocking smile.
He understood that the death of a battle maid would not be enough to make him forget what had happened in the past because Raydon desired more than that.
\'\'Okay, we\'ll send her back to you once she\'s been healed, and I\'ll let you pick another battle maid later, \'\' Cael said.
This time, he hadn\'t even brought up the family rules, and he\'d even given Raydon the freedom to pick whoever he wanted. He was forced to grant his wishes since he was no longer in a position to play the game.
"Well, I guess I\'ll go with Belicia then. \'\' Raydon said without much thought.
The Demugen family only had a total of eight battle maids, and he didn\'t have to give it much thought because she was the person he knew best and was closest to.
"That\'s not possible. She is the battle maid for my son. You should choose ano… \'\'As soon as Raydon made his decision, Arden attempted to disagree, but Cael raised his hand and signaled for him to shut up.
\'\'Fine. \'\'
\'\'Wha… \'\' Arden, who was infuriated by this decision, attempted to voice his disapproval once more; however, Cael\'s glance at him caused him to be compelled to keep his silence for the moment.
\'\'Anything else? \'\' Cael asked as he turned his attention back to Raydon.
\'\'That is all for now. \'\' Raydon was puzzled by the sudden change in attitude, and decided it would be best not to push his luck too far at this time, so he made the decision to leave.
As soon as the door had been shut behind Raydon, Arden asked the question in a furious tone. "What was that? Why did you suddenly decide to comply with his requests when just a short while ago you were trying to create all kinds of obstacles? Aside from that, Belicia is already serving as my son\'s battle maid. What gives you the right to make that promise to give her to someone else? \'\'
\'\'I agree with Arden. He has every reason to despise us, especially his parents, but giving in to his demands so easily will only encourage him to act more brazenly. I\'m sure it will end up costing us a lot more in the long run when the time comes and we ask him to set up a meeting with the respected high-rank behind him. \'\'Interestingly, Zephyr\'s wife agreed with him that Cael made the wrong choice.
\'\'Seren, you don\'t get it, do you? The high rank behind him isn\'t that important anymore. \'\' In contrast to the upbeat and bouncy demeanor that he typically exudes, Zephyr spoke with an extremely solemn tone.
Following that, he questioned while looking at Cael and Thalia. \'\'Unless you want to make fools of us, you two need to start explaining the truth. \'\'
\'\'What do you mean?" Seren asked in a perplexed tone.
She and the others noticed that these two were behaving in an odd manner, but they attributed it to the fact that they had finally realized the mistakes they had made in the past against Raydon and were consequently experiencing negative emotions as a result of this.
However, the truth seemed to be quite different.
Zephyr addressed the confused eyes that were watching him and asked, "Didn\'t you see the technique he used?"
\'\'The second technique he used? Right, I thought it looked familiar too. Wait… That technique was very similar to what the Lionheart family uses. \'\' Elara, Arden\'s wife, expressed her surprise after some pondering on the matter.
\'\'Huh? This can\'t be true, can it? I\'ve previously witnessed members of the Lionheart family use their techniques. However, none of them were able to radiate their element from their bodies.\'\' Arden remarked on the black flames emanating from Raydon\'s body while he was using the berserker technique.
They realized that Raydon already possessed the elements of death and fire, and possibly even a hybrid element; however, the fact that he possessed these elements was not as surprising to them as the fact that he had a high level of control over them.
Therefore, the fact that he was able to integrate his elements into the technique he used demonstrated his true talent and provided evidence that the technique he used was of a high tier.
