Chapter 298 – The newest issue of Nature was released on June 24. (3)
When Zhang Kaiyu was attempting to get down to the bottom of it in a high-profile way, Jiang WenYu had successfully moved out of the Zhang family using this as an excuse. Not only did he move himself out, he even brought with him all of the equipment. They were already given to him so they were his. It only made sense for him to bring them with him.
That was Zhang Kaiyu’s only way to not have this grandson to feel distant from them.
Fang JunRong was surprised at how efficient Jiang WenYu was. Not only did he depart from the Zhang family, he even brought with him all of his equipment.
She studied Jiang WenYu carefully. Was he still that simple researcher of hers?
Jiang WenYu, feeling a bit uneasy under her look, blurted out, “I have been eating properly lately.”
Fang JunRong had worried about him not being able to eat and sleep well during his stay at the Zhang family. She would look like she was trying to figure out his weight from just looking at him every time the two had met up. Jiang WenYu didn’t want her to worry so he cooperated well with the nutritionist during his stay and eat whatever he needed to, including green bell pepper that he hated.
Fang JunRong was taken aback a little; then, her lips curved a little – it was still the familiar feel and temperament. Yup, this was still the good old Jiang WenYu. He hadn’t been possessed yet!
She smiled and said, “Why don’t you rest for a few days?”
For certain he would not have been able to relax during his stay at the Zhang family. Perhaps because this man’s fate had truly changed because of her, she was very protective of him.
“Mmm, okay.”
Even with bodyguards around him, but he was still under a lot of duress while over at the Zhang family.
Jiang WenYu, the crazy workaholic, slept for an entire day after his return and went straight back to his laboratory. His newest project was to extend the shelf life of Beautify Pills. And the secret formula that he had lifted from the Zhang family would be perfect for that. He didn’t even have to feel bad about it at all. The Zhang family had almost had him killed; wasn’t it fair that he gained something in return?
Fang JunRong did not disturb him except to have fruits sent over to him from time to time.
As for the Zhang family. Zhang Kaiyu had yet to find out anything about the incident. Each and every grandson seemed to be a suspect and, under such circumstances, he would hesitate to have Jiang WenYu return any time soon.
Fast forwarding to June, when Jiang WenYu started having results from his experimentations, he also received a call from the editor from Nature. The editor told him that they were able to proof out his thesis in clinical trial and it would, therefore, be published the next month.
He told Jiang WenYu at the same time that he received a very similar thesis statement a week prior. The first half of it was very similar to Jiang WenYu’s but the data was a mess and there were no chance of it being carried out successfully.
Jiang WenYu had no intention to keep his family’s dirty laundry private. He told this editor who went by Bruce that he had noticed signs of foul play on his computer at his old laboratory, which was also the reason that he had moved out.
Bruce, on the other end of the video conference, was enraged. He said repeatedly, “This is so offensive!”
The old man was so angry that his face was turning blue. He had similar experience when he was young and had to jump through hoops to prove himself. As such, he hated nothing more than plagiarism. It was the worst of all offenses!
“If what you said was true, we will for sure get to the bottom of it.”
In the time that follow, Jiang WenYu did not bother himself with that again. Here merely waited quietly. The data that he had left for Zhang Bi to find were wrong and he didn’t even put much effort into the second half. He was confident that Zhang Bi didn’t know enough to be able to spot that and that he would be eager to send them in.
And, he was right. Zhang Bi walked right into his trap.
The new issue of Nature would be released on June 24.
Naturally, Zhang Bi had purchased the latest issue. He had been purchasing every issue of the weekly magazine since he had submitted his paper. Even though he had yet to hear back from the editor but he had also heard that the sooner one received the call, the sooner it meant their article would not be published. If he had yet to receive a call, that meant things were looking up and up. He was, therefore, not worried about it.
When he looked cover page, however, he noticed the title in the middle of the page. It was identical to the one that he had submitted.
Was his being published already?
But he didn’t receive a call from the auditing editor. Had they forgotten to contact him?
He quickly flipped open the magazine and, when he saw the name under the article, his body stiffened. The name listed on there was Jiang WenYu, not Zhang Bi.
