Chapter 1418 - All for the Children

Chapter 1418: All for the Children

After dinner, Ji Ziming drove Pei Ge and the two kids to their apartment.

“Mommy, are we gonna live in that big house from here on?” Ran Ran asked curiously as she held onto her mother’s hand.

“Yeah. Aren’t you happy?” She had this impression that the little girl was unhappy. After all, most children were uncomfortable when it came to living with strangers.

“I’m happy; I can play with my brother there.” The girl smiled innocently, playing with her braids.

“Okay, we’ll play with your little brother.” She scratched her daughter’s nose, who then stuck her tongue out.

The man’s lips curled into a smile as he watched the two’s interaction.

His gaze was tender and affectionate.

He would protect his wife and child properly.

This pair of adults quickly packed some things before bringing the two kids out of the apartment to return to the Ji family’s mansion.

On their way there, the woman thought about a lot of stuff that might happen when she lived with the man’s family, but she reckoned that everything would be worth it upon recalling Ping An.

The car quickly arrived at the Ji family’s courtyard.

When they alighted from it, the woman saw Ji Chi squatting at the door, as if waiting for someone.

She walked over to the little guy when she saw that.

However, before she could get near him, a hint of annoyance flashed across the boy’s face. He then turned and walked into his room.

“...”

Her lips moved, but she did not feel as awful as she had earlier.

After all, she had all the time to make her son, who had forgotten her, remember her!

“Aiyo, my dear baby, why did you go back inside early?”

“I went to wait for mommy, but she’s taking too long?”

When she heard that conversation as she walked into the living room with Ji Ziming, she felt saddened.

Her son was waiting for Qu Jingwan earlier...

“Son, you’re back.

“You can help arrange Pei Ge’s living quarters. As for An An and Ran Ran...” Madam Ji eyed the luggage in their hands.

Even though she did not like this woman for various reasons, the two kids were her grandchildren, after all.

Before she could say anything more about the two kids, she heard—

“I want to live with my little brother!”

Everyone was stunned.

“Grandma, I want to sleep with my little brother! With me here, he won’t be scared by nightmares again!”

Seeing the girl’s adorable manner and An An’s expressionless face, which was similar to his father’s, the old woman’s heart softened.

“Okay, okay, okay! You can both sleep with your brother.”

As she spoke, she lowered her head and looked at Ji Chi.

“Baby, you’ll sleep with your siblings tonight, okay?”

“Hmph!”

The little boy turned and scoffed softly. Even though he did not actually say anything, his grandmother understood what he meant.

“Baby has agreed to it. Come, An An, Ran Ran go sleep with your brother. It’s been a long day.”

The two kids looked at their mother, said their goodnight to her, and then let go of her hands to run toward their brother.

They grabbed hold of each of his hands from either side. The sight of the three standing together and holding hands made their mother feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Everything... would get better.

Perhaps because her kids slept with their brother that night, Ji Chi did not wake up in the middle of the night crying for mom.

After a good night’s sleep, she got up early the next day. She gently kissed Ji Ziming, who was still sleeping, and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the three kids.

Under the shocked gazes of the servants, she swiftly made breakfast for her children.

Just as she put the food on the table, the three kids were brought to the dining room, half asleep.

“Wow! It smells good!”

“Mommy, you made us good food again!”

The trio woke up from the fragrant smell of food.

Even though Ji Chi did not say anything, his gluttonous expression exposed his inner thoughts.

“Alright. Let’s sit down and eat.”

The elderly Ji couple was a bit moved as they sat down and watched Pei Ge serve the children breakfast.

Even though she did not treat their son exceptionally well, she really did treat her children well.

If it had not been for that affair five years ago, they would really have agreed to her marrying into their family.

Because she knew the reason for Ji Chi’s rejection of her and to avoid agitating him, his mother chose not to sit next to him.

She also did not put any food on his plate. Knowing that things had to be done in moderation, she contented herself with gazing at the three kids tenderly as they enjoyed their breakfast.

Halfway through it, there was commotion at the dining room door.

“Oh, it’s Jingwan; hurry and come sit with me.”

Madam Ji motioned for her to take a seat with a smile when she saw who was at the door.

“Lao Wang, bring the luggage to Jingwan’s room.”

She gave this order upon seeing the bags in her hands, but the latter waved her hands.

“Auntie, these aren’t my things. I brought these for you all.”

As she spoke, she began to show the contents of the bags.

“These are skincare products for you, this one is an out-of-print book for uncle, and this is for Ziming...”

She mentioned everyone but Pei Ge.

That was rather obvious.

But as the person in question, she was not really bothered.

“Ah! Miss Pei, you’re here, too. Sorry, this is the Ji family’s mansion; I didn’t think that you live here.”

The sarcastic words made Pei Ge frown.

“Shut up.”

Ji Ziming set down his chopsticks and glared coldly at Qu Jingwan.

Seeing that her son was upset, Madam Ji pulled the lady to her side. Her son might chase her out if this persisted.

“That’s very thoughtful. You must not have breakfast yet; come and have some with us.”
